About our director

During her 23 years as a member of Sweet Adelines International (SAI), Sandy Wingate has been involved in singing, management and directing aspects of the barbershop art form. She has sung tenor, lead and baritone in choruses and quartets during her Sweet Adelines experience.

Sandy's love for directing started young.  At age 18, she took a conducting course at a local community college.  Since that time, she has been the Director for church choirs in Utah, Colorado, California, Texas, Maryland and Arizona.  Sandy is currently participating in the Director Certification Program with Sweet Adelines International.
After a successful barbershop singing career with Harborlites (Huntington Beach, CA), Rich-Tones (Dallas, TX), and Pride of Baltimore (Baltimore, MD) choruses, Sandy moved to Sedona in 2006.  She was one of the founding members of Red RockAppella.  Within this chorus, she has been the Associate Director, Showmanship Chair, baritone Section Leader, and Membership Chair.  She currently directs Red RockAppella chorus and is a dual member in the championship Scottsdale chorus in Region 21.
